The FT3 has the ability to receive 1.8-30MHZ band using the BAND button to cycle to the SW program band. The VFO SCAN on this band will run from 1.8 – 29.995 in 5KHZ steps in AM mode. Great fro SWL but soon you get fed up punching in frequencies, or pressing scan and watching it scan 1-30MHZ!
CEPT CB goes from 26.965 to 27.405MHZ and the FT3 will let you program those limits AND in FM mode scanning all of the MIDBAND CB in a little under 2 seconds! What’s more it will allow you to record the audio too!
I made a little video but the basic idea is simple. The FT3 has 100 special L/U Lower[x] or Upper[x] memory channels. Saving a frequency and mode to a pair of L/U channels will then clicking SCAN when one is recalled will make the FT3 scan between the two programmable limits.
If you also enable the F-MW -> REC function, the FT3 will record audio to a single WAV file everytime the scan stops. That means you could leave the FT3 scanning CB or say 2m all day and have it record everything it hears in one easy to play audio file.!
